Wipe down the garage doors and walls, as well, to remove spider webs and general grime. While you’re at it, schedule an inspection of the garage doors to make sure they’re operating smoothly and safely. Next, why not freshen up your garage interior with a coat of paint? Exterior latex will be fine for the walls, but use hardwearing, durable 1-part epoxy paint on your floor.

Quick! What does the following quote refer to? “Everybody complains about _____, but nobody does anything about it.” If you guessed “the clutter in my garage,” you weren’t technically correct (the answer is actually “the weather”). However, you did succeed in bringing up an issue that touches a raw nerve for most American homeowners. If your garage is so cluttered you can’t even find your car, make this year the one you finally tame those mountains of mess.

Sort your stuff
Sort all the piles of junk … er … stuff that have somehow collected in your garage over this past winter. Set up 4 separate action categories:

Plan your garage space
Now sit down, take a deep breath, and relax. You’re not done yet, but a brief time out will allow you to consider exactly how you’ll make optimal use of your newly cleared and cleaned garage. Take accurate measurements; then sketch as you plan, with either good old paper and pencil or high-tech 3D modelling software.

A place for everything
If your garage will be multitasking, install a parking bumper or stop to keep your car where it belongs. This is actually required according to the building code in many localities.

In New England, there are only a handful of Muslim elected officials. But Mazen sees plenty of potential. Jetpac had only three Massachusetts participants earlier this month. After the launch, more than 100 people nationwide responded.

“In my opinion, organizing in the community is the best way to get started thinking about running for office, and running for office is one of the best ways to impact the local or state level community on issues of great important value to our everyday lives,” he says.

“We are underrepresented and I encourage always to civically get engaged the community and now I encourage them more to get engaged because this is the time that we cannot shy away,” she says.

Another candidate-in-training is 41-year-old Sarah Kahtib of Walpole.

Mazen says political organizing in communities has the potential to translate into voters at the polls but, he adds, tipping political scales is not the sole motivation.

The 34-year-old lives in Malden and is a director at her local mosque. She has been working with the political training group for over a month and admits she has a long way to go before she launches her run in June.

— Donate or sell: Things which are still usable, just not by you.
— Recycle: Old newspapers, plastic containers without lids … you get the picture.
— Throw out: Whatever’s not worth anything to anybody. Use caution when disposing of toxic or flammable items like paint, solvents, antifreeze, or fuel; handle with care and take them to your local hazardous waste center.
— Keep: What you really, really promise you need. Notice how we strategically placed this one last, so you’ll be less tempted to lump everything into this category. This category can (should) be broken down even further, into seasonal and regularly used.

If your garage will be multitasking, install a parking bumper or stop to keep your car where it belongs. This is actually required according to the building code in many localities.

Remember that the main function of a garage is as a protected parking area. It may also be the only practical place for your washer and dryer, and possibly your freezer and water heater too. With that in mind, calculate how much room you need for your vehicle(s) and appliances before anything else. Then you can add in the extras, like workspace and storage.

The substantial increases in top- and bottom- line results have a lot to do with the addition of Motor Coach, and is also a result of a 5.6 per cent increase in the average selling price of both transit buses and motor coaches for the year, partly

It was demonstrated this week in a new advert from a Chevy dealership in Rockville, Maryland trying to sell the all-electric Bolt EV as if it needs gas.

Of course, there’s no engine in the Bolt EV – only an electric drive unit and while some still reference charging the battery as “fueling”, the reference to “a drop of fuel” here makes it sound like he is talking about gas.

In Ourisman Rockmont Chevrolet’s defense, they only started to receive the Bolt EV just over a month ago – so it’s still quite a new vehicle for them.

In what was likely a confusion with the Chevy Volt, which is a plug-in hybrid and does have an engine acting as a range extender which requires gas, the announcer in the ad said:

“This Bolt EV is nicely equipped with a precision tuned electric drive engine  — it will wring every last mile it can out of a drop of fuel.”

As we recently reported, despite the expansion in a few states, like Maryland, GM’s Bolt EV sales surprisingly went down to 952 units in the US last month and dealerships in California started offering significant discounts on the new vehicles already.

Here it is:

In just one year, Ahmedabad-based Give Toy Give Joy, a self-funded initiative, has managed to touch the lives of more than 2,000 underprivileged children across Ahmedabad. A web developer by profession, Hirin dedicates her weekends collecting and distributing toys, meeting NGOs, and working to bring cheer to those who are less fortunate.

Toys are fun and an important tool for a child’s holistic growth and development, believes Hirin Dave, Director at Tailored Solutions Private Limited, who gives away toys to the underprivileged kids in her pursuit to give them a bright future. Toys are not only meant for rich kids, even children from under privileged background should have access to them. It was this thought that led Hirin start Give Toy Give Joy last year.

It all started in May 2016, when Hirin and her seven-year-old daughter, Jiya, were cleaning the house. When Jiya stumbled across a bunch of her old unused toys, she told her mother to give it away to other children. Following the usual norm, she kept it aside for the housekeeper; however, Jiya had other ideas. She told her mother that the maid did not have any young children and that it would be of no use to her. Hence, Hirin and her daughter made a life alternative road trip towards their maid’s colony to give away the toys to underprivileged children.

Toys are not just meant for play, but, if used effectively, it can help to develop cognitive skills, lead to physical improvement, and can act as a holistic growth model for toddlers. “Certain toys can enhance finger movements in babies which later have an impact on their handwriting skills. We need to include both soft toys and learning games together to help in overall development of children right from the beginning,” she says.

Hence, Hirin is currently working with psychologists and school teachers to develop a Toy Tiger project which aims to provide a holistic learning experience for children who belong to the higher strata of society. whose parents can afford to buy expensive toys. The project envisions to provide a crate of 10 toys every fortnight on a rental basis which will lead to enhancement of certain skills in children – social skills, mental improvement in stress levels of kids, decision making, finding problems.

Last month, she also conducted a free medical checkup for all the children living in the Behrampura area. Hirin along with Dr Prakash Vaishnav, a pediatrician and a member of the Rotary club, Ahmedabad, were successful in raising enough funds for medicines and they provided health screenings for almost 200 kids. They identified 50 children who have blood deficiency, low calcium, and vitamin among others problems; and the duo is working towards providing further medical help to them.

Through the medium of toys, Hirin encourages children to participate in school. “Through fun and games, we can subconsciously influence the minds of the children; we tell them that if there are certain words which they don’t understand then should go to school and ask their teacher for explanations,” she explains. There is a need to develop a method to initiative a hunger of learning from both ends – the teacher and the student. If the student shows interests in studies, then even the teacher will be motivated to bring new ideas to class.

Further, in the coming few months, she is also working to build a pop-up community library where volunteers will be encouraged to read stories out loud to the children. She says that her work is incomplete and there is still a lot more work left to do to help enhance skills of underprivileged children.

“I think there are some misconceptions statewide concerning the activity here,” Commissioner J.P. Dutton said, adding that while many at the state level are unaware of the infrastructure issues locally, the General Assembly is also focused on ensuring the local shale basin is competitive with other shale sites across the country.

“I do not look for any money to come from the state of Ohio and/or the severance tax in the near future,” Thomas said. “They simply do not recognize how it damages the infrastructure here.”

Also, the board is accepting applications to fill three positions on the Belmont County Port Authority Board of Directors. Interested parties may contact the commissioners’ office at 740 699-2155 to request an application. Applications will be accepted through April 7.

Thomas added the county has made progress on restoring roads through the negotiation of road use maintenance agreements.

“Time has kind of taken its toll on the building,” Dutton said, noting that the courthouse had been well-maintained.

The board also authorized Thomas to sign preliminary legislation resolution empowering the county engineer to enter into contract with the Ohio Department of Transportation to complete a landslide repair project on Barton Road. The estimated $237,000 project is 80-percent federally funded and 20-percent-funded through the motor vehicle gas tax. ODOT was thanked for their cooperation in this project as well as with several county bridge replacements underway as part of the transportation improvement plan.

The study will determine the necessity of signage in any areas. The commissioners noted that the terrain of most county roads makes the state speed limit of 55 mph impractical.

Commissioner Mark Thomas noted that the board had provided funds to the county’s drug task force, adding that the scope of the commissioners’ duties encompass law enforcement rather than education.

Anyway, I had a blast watching all these former dudes. Here’s some observations:

9 am ‘til 9 pm. Watchin’ ball. Spring Training is the best. I mean it really is. I don’t know how you roll, but I’d like to once again encourage you to get your butt out here at least once and check this off your list. It’s just the best. I’m wiped clear out of energy at the moment, so let’s cut to the chase. Here’s what I saw today.

AAA players don’t wear helmets during BP. All the other guys do. Just thought that was funny and you should know.

I saw Michael Matuella throw a couple rounds of live BP. He worked from the stretch and from the windup. He threw curveballs and fastballs. It was an under-the-radar backfields moment, so there wasn’t a handy speed gun on him that I could see, but it’s easily obvious what makes this kid so tantalizing. The ball jumps out of his hand. He’s got easy mechanics and a downright sexy amount of downhill plane. Hope for health, because if he’s healthy, he’s gonna get guys out.

-I am trained to focus on the stuff, but not necessarily the results. Big league games are only about the results. Get guys out, win games, make money. That said, I’m glad I got to watch Hollywood Hamels pitch. His stuff wasn’t good early on, neither was his command, but he battled and found a groove. The FB was 90mph, but once he began to command it in late in the second inning, he looked like Cole Hamels. He was commanding it armside well, but never seemed to get the gloveside location he was searching for. Regardless, he was changing the eye level at will and really shredded some seriously aggressive White Sox hitters. I’ve got no idea about the slightly lower-than normal velo on the FB, but he overcame it and got outs. And at his level, that’s all that matters. He K’d the side in the 4th, all swinging on FB 90, FB 90, and CT 88. I’m perfectly happy to attribute the couple ticks down in velo to the fact that it’s March. Also, having a nasty-ass double-plus CH in your back pocket anytime you need it seems pretty cool.

Pretty, pretty pitching (notice him hitting the same plant foot spot within about an inch everytime):
